Hey,

FIRST: I'm from germany, an I hope my english is good enough Wink

I hope someone can help me. My Problem:

I've a server installed with Debian Lenny, completly up-2-date.

No I've created a new user which name is "gamecreate" with a same named homedirectory.
In this directory is the gamecreate file. I can start it without failures or something else. I can also download all games with the webinterface, but when I'll start a new created gameserver, it doesn't work.

Here is the output on the server:
Code:

First off you should check whether the game can be launched manually. Stop the server in the web interface, and then do the following as user gamecreate:
Code:
cd ~/urbanterror
./ioUrTded.i386 +set dedicated 2 +set fs_homepath /home/gamecreate/urbanterror/q3ut4/port27960 +set fs_game q3ut4 +set net_port 27960 +exec port27960.cfg +set com_hunkmeg 128

By launching the game manually, but exactly like GC does, you may get some more informative messages about what goes wrong.

Thanks for the fast reply.

I checked it like you wrote it. This is the output:

Code:
./ioUrTded.i386: line 1: !DOCTYPE: No such file or directory
./ioUrTded.i386: line 2: syntax error near unexpected token `<'
'/ioUrTded.i386: line 2: `<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>The page cannot be found</TITLE>

I opened the file with an editor.

Code:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>The page cannot be found</TITLE>

It seems to be that the file is missing while downloading...stupid...

How to solve?!

Ah, you've come across the infamous Gamecreate-only-maintains-Windows-installations dilemma.

Do this:
1. Reinstall the game from the webinterface, but make sure to uncheck the option that GC shall keep the installation up to date. You want to take care of that yourself.
2. Erase the installation, since it is completely corrupt
3. Download the server files from somewhere and install/unpack them to the correct directory.

Thanks for your help first.

It works now after I download all files manually...

But I can't do it for each game...is there annother way to solve it for the other games???

You may want to consider creating your own content master server. You will find the files you need here: http://www.gamecreate.com/downloads.php

A content server is a server on which you maintain all your game installs. You then tell GC to download the games from your content server instead of from GC's own content server.

You will still have to maintain one version of each game, of course, but only on the one host.

Thanks,

but I thought gamecreate can install & run gameserver completly alone, without my help...

isn't there annother way to solve it? Have I tocreate it for all games manually? that's not the way I want...

Yes, GameCreate can and will install and run your gameservers. But that requires that the good guys in Australia that develop GameCreate maintain the game installations on their content master, which is where your game installations are downloaded from. They haven't maintained Linux installations for a long time, so unfortunately you will need to do that yourself.

If you switch to Windows, your games will be automatically updated when the devs update their content master. However I can see why that would not be an option, and if you wish to continue using Linux, you will either have to download the game directly to your host and make sure it stays up to date or, if you have more than a few hosts, create your own content master to distribute your installations to all your hosts. In either case you need to maintain at least one installation of each game that you wish to run.
