hello,

I've set up Gamecreate today for our Battlefield2 server.

But I have a strange problem, I can't connect via rcon to the server, in fact,
if I look to netstat, I don't see the port I've set up for it (6711), everything else seems to work well.

server:~# netstat -anp|grep bf2
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:16579 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 4579/bf2
udp 0 0 213.xx.yyy.zzz:16567 0.0.0.0:* 4579/bf2
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:16587 0.0.0.0:* 4579/bf2
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:29900 0.0.0.0:* 4579/bf2
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:16589 0.0.0.0:* 4579/bf2

I've thought, okay, looks like the rcon is on 16579, but no luck connecting to that port.

Any Idea ?

BTW, what's the best rcon manager you use ?
BF2CC is such a mess...

And how do I activate starting logs ??

EDIT: I suspect mod_manager.con and adminsettings.con are not loaded,
I think I'm a little dumb Very Happy, what is the syntax to load them ?

The default rcon port is 5 ports higher than the servers join port.

That's what I've seen in the configuration file.

So it should be 16567 + 5 = 16572

Sadly I've no 16572 tcp port open on the server, that's why I've tried to
force the port (6711) but with no success at all.

Looks like rcon is NOT activated...

Looks like we didnt have bf2cc modmanager scripts in our bf2 linux install - doh!

Ive put them in there and rolled out a new bf2 installation (if you have auto update turned on when you installed bf2 first off, your install is now up to date).

Try connecting to your server on port 6711 now - If that works, revert all your changed files back to default (click 'Revert') and the port # will be +5 like normal.

Let us know if this works or not! Smile

yes ! Very Happy

that was that, I have Rcon Up now Very Happy

Thanks a lot !

Strangely when I've look to the server running BF2, I've got 2 BF2 on the same game port (?!?). Maybe something wrong with the reload script.

I've stopped BF2 from the gamecreate frontend, but I have to kill -9 the old one.

Looks like BF2 has been restarted without knowing that it was already running.

Anyway, after I've restarted everything was fine.
