Fail Query Failure 04/23/2008 05:07:20
so the problem was a QUERY FAILURE.... whatever this means
how about to deactivate this option in the host options?
Quote:
Server Query: Monitor servers on this host for players and query failures
as far as i know is my root with all the gameservers online 24/7 and queryable all the time...
maybe the problem with the queryfailure is on the connection between the gc-masterserver (or what server ever querys the gamservers) and my root (sounds clear when it says the masterserver is OFFLINE !!?!?! no masterserver -> no query ! ??)
You can turn off the Server Query option by clicking on the host you want to edit, and going to the Configuration tab. You will see the Server Query option there.
Sorry, meant to the master server. However, there were also prolonged
connection problems to the web interface recently, though not lasting about
a day as the master connection problems did.
Usually the problem manifests itself in that I observe one or more hosts are
marked as red in the web interface. I then RDP/ssh in and see from the
console that the GC client is constantly trying to connect, but fails to obtain
an SSH connection. When I restart GC it connects immediately and works
perfectly straight away. This happens at least twice per week. The above
mentioned case, on the other hand, involved almost all hosts and they were
unable to connect upon restart of GC.
Edit: Oh, and the GC client keeps disconnecting several times per day, but only
for shorter periods of time (minutes). I've just turned off email-warnings since
my mailbox kept filling up with hundreds of mails per day concerning those
short disconnects. Is that something which can be fixed, or should we expect
these short-lasting disconnects to remain even after you manage to fix the
main problems? (i.e. is it like that for you in AU as well?)
AU is currently (for ~6ish months now) been running under a new master server which has been proven far more stable and reliable than the one previously in use (in EU/US and before that AU) as it has received numerous improvements and its underlying platform/architecture has changed.
This should prevent (hopefully) your constant disconnects from the master server and the clients getting "stuck".

The new master system also contains code to throttle these messages - if something keeps failing, it wont keep spamming you (it will let you know its ignoring more failures for the next X minutes), so the option should be usable to you again.
We hope to have this deployed sometime this week for EU and US.
I'm sad to say that now it's even worse. This
morning five hosts were disconnected, and when
I RDP'd inn it turned out that the GC client had
crashed on all of them.
I restarted GC on all five hosts, and on two of
them GC died again while starting up servers.
This also happened several times yesterday.
I'll send you some dump-files by mail.
There *may* have been fewer short-lasting
disconnects, though. But they don't really matter
much since they last only a few minutes - having
to constantly monitor the GC process as it seems
I have to do now is far worse.
Edit: GC keeps crashing east and west (and I
mean crash - either with a window saying it
had a software error and has written a dump
file to disk, or just disappearing). Up to 3-4
times on a couple of hosts.
What's more: the short-lasting disconnects are
still there. Could it be that the EU host has some
kind of problems with their network? It might
be helpful to you if you created an EU domain
and connected one of your hosts to it to keep
an eye on the disconnects.
