Hello all.

I'm currently in the process of switching our game box to a linux machine with better hardware and also because it's cheaper.

My question is, can i move the servers from one host to another?

I was thinking of doing the following. Copy all files from the windows box to the linux box and keep the directory structure.

Since all my servers run on sub-domains and independent installs i figured that if i keep the directory names (GameCreate-2658) on the new box, gamecreate would still be able to "know" where they are and control them.

So instead of having the game servers on i.e.

C:\gamecreate\GameCreate-2658\hlserver

they would be on

/home/Gamecreate/GameCreate-2658/hlserver

Is this assumption correct?

Correct.

For convenience, simply shut down GC Client on your Windows host.

Then edit the host (in your main domain, click on the host and visit its Host Configuration tab).

Change the IP address and Operating System.

Click save.

Start GC Client on your Linux host.

GC will now recognize that as the host to run games from.
