Hi All, We only recently started to use GameCreate and so far it is working excellent!
I do have a question or two....
1) How do we know if and or when patches are loaded on the game servers? Do you have a site when we can see this, or it it possible to get a notification for this? We would like to keep our portal up to date with server patches being released.
2) Content server: Maybe I am missing something, but can you please give some more info on how to set up the contect server? Should we copy the install directory of the game to the content server?
We don't really have a way of notifying people of new patches, or if the GameCreate packages have been updated.
We do update the Windows versions of games as soon as we know there is a patch/update for them. This is normally 2 or 3 days at the most if it's a weekend.
Most people use the 'Automatically keep this software installation up to date' install option, which will update and restart your servers when we've updated the master package.
The info you need should be in the Content Server Support Files, but basically yes, you either install the game that you want to use as a package, or copy a working install onto your content server, and build the package.
Steve, thanks for the reply! I also have the 'Automatically keep this software installation up to date' selected which is great but I wanted to update the portal with the game and patch levels. We just need to manage this closely on our side.
