Sup guys, new user of GameCreate here.
I've just installed BF 2142 using gamecreate on a linux system, everything went well, i used default settings for everything but when i come to start the server via gamecreate i get this...
Code:
Start     GameCreate attempted to start Battlefield 2142.     04/29/2009 23:22:24     
Stop    GameCreate stopped Battlefield 2142.    04/29/2009 23:22:20    
Fail    Process failure (Server crashed?)    04/29/2009 23:22:20


Like i say i left every setting as default. This is the 'Command line' part of the gamecreate server properties:
Code:
Command Line:   start.sh +overlayPath "/home/gamecreate/gamecreate/bf2142/mods/bf2142/16567/" +pbPath "mods/bf2142/16567/pb"


Strangely, when i run that exact code from within the server the game server starts up fine, but when i ask GameCreate to start it for me all i see in the processes list is this;

Code:
 2828 ?        00:00:00 gamecreate.x86
 2829 ?        00:00:00 gamecreate.x86
 2830 ?        00:00:00 gamecreate.x86
 2831 ?        00:00:00 gamecreate.x86
19357 ?        00:00:01 bf2142 <defunct>

<defunct> appers to mean the process crashed and this keeps happening until i kill it.

I've searched the forum and couldn't find an existing topic on this so my apologies if i missed it. Any ideas anyone?

You may need to run the game under a screen session, see if that helps.

On the Game Configuration page, set 'Use screen' to 'Required' and let me know how you go.

Sorry for the delayed response. Unfortunately, changing 'use screen' to 'required' produces the same error. Should i be able to see the process running in screen when i view the processes list from SSH? The process list looked exactly the same as what i posted before with no mention of screen.

The BF2142 linux files in the GameCreate repository are out of date.

You'll need to install the game manually, then under the BF2142 install options in GC, use the option which says the files are already in place.

Let us know how that goes.
