PostPosted: Thu Feb 01, 2007 5:11 am    Post subject: Loosing connection to master servers Reply with quote

As of yesterday the GC Client application keeps loosing the connectio to the europe master servers, aparently its some sort of SSL issue:

Code:
LOG: Wed Jan 31 19:07:51 2007: SSL pipe not connected, attempting to connect
LOG: Wed Jan 31 19:07:51 2007: Master address(es): eu1.master.gamecreate.com,eu2.master.gamecreate.com
LOG: Wed Jan 31 19:07:52 2007: Got ip of '144.140.155.50' for eu1.master.gamecreate.com
LOG: Wed Jan 31 19:07:52 2007: Begin connection attempt
LOG: Wed Jan 31 19:07:52 2007: Connect TCP socket
LOG: Wed Jan 31 19:07:53 2007: TCP connected, create new SSL instance
LOG: Wed Jan 31 19:07:53 2007: Bind SSL to TCP socket
LOG: Wed Jan 31 19:07:53 2007: Begin SSL negotiation
LOG: Wed Jan 31 19:07:54 2007: SSL_connect returned: -1 (SSL_get_error:5, errno:2, WSA:10054)
LOG: Wed Jan 31 19:07:54 2007: SSL_connect: SSL_ERROR_SYSCALL , closing connection

LOG: Wed Jan 31 19:07:54 2007: SSL_connect returned: -1 (SSL_get_error:5, errno:2, WSA:10054)
LOG: Wed Jan 31 19:07:54 2007: ERR_get_error(): 0

could this be a problem with the master servers themselves, the client or simply a connection problem on my box's side?

Are there any windows services that the GameCreate Client app depends on to work?

Thnx in advance,
gD

Hey gD,

We had a few issues in the past 24 hours yesterday where our master server was playing up a bit.

It should be far more stable now, are you still receiving these errors?

It should stay logged in for a while now. It may disconnect every so often, but will reconnect on its own.

At the moment 40% of our hosts are offline and
unable to connect:
Code:
Thu Feb  1 01:28:03 2007: Master address(es): eu1.master.gamecreate.com,eu2.master.gamecreate.com
Thu Feb  1 01:28:04 2007: Got ip of '144.140.155.50' for eu1.master.gamecreate.com
Thu Feb  1 01:28:04 2007: Begin connection attempt
Thu Feb  1 01:28:04 2007: Connect TCP socket
Thu Feb  1 01:28:05 2007: TCP connected, create new SSL instance
Thu Feb  1 01:28:05 2007: Bind SSL to TCP socket
Thu Feb  1 01:28:05 2007: Begin SSL negotiation
Thu Feb  1 01:28:06 2007: Connection closed during SSL_connect
Thu Feb  1 01:28:06 2007: SSL_connect returned: 0 (SSL_get_error:6, errno:0, WSA:0)
Thu Feb  1 01:28:07 2007: SSL pipe not connected, attempting to connect
Thu Feb  1 01:28:07 2007: Master address(es): eu1.master.gamecreate.com,eu2.master.gamecreate.com
Thu Feb  1 01:28:08 2007: Got ip of '144.140.155.50' for eu2.master.gamecreate.com

etc...

Earlier today it was enough to restart the GC client,
and it would connect almost immediately. But that
doesn't seem to help now.

thanks again andrew for your swift reply.

Allthough not related i have one suggestion for a interesting feature for the GC client: To be able to reboot the hosts through the web interface.

Edit: Just read a reply to a similar question and the security issues, by having to use root/admin, do make me rethink my idea.

Cheers,
gD

It should end up connecting and staying online for a while - It may drop out every so often but should reconnect after a short while.

This has been a major problem over the last week or
two. Hosts keep dropping out and staying out for
very long periods of time (hours at least). A quick
restart normally solves the problem.

This used to happen on a weekly basis, but lately
it's been happening more than once per day, requiring
a restart of GC more often than would be necessary
for the actual gameservers... I don't think it has
ever happened for a Windows-server, so perhaps
it's something fishy about Linux ssl?

Nope, its related to our master server and we plan to address it but its working relatively alright at the moment. Time constraints are preventing us from focusing any attention to it at the moment.

Don't mean to be nagging you but are there any news regarding the european master servers problems?

They seem to have gone down about 2 hours ago.

We don't have time at the moment to address these issues, we hope to fix it later on but not right now.

You will need to put up with it for now. Try restarting the client which may speed things up.

I am working on developing something that should eliminate these issues but it will take a while.

Please let us know if there's anything we can to
to help you with testing. This is almost a show-
stopper for us at this point. GC is currently the
least stable component in our gaming service, and
that is including the BF-series Wink

This is really starting to be a major pain in the
ass. We currently have four hosts offline, three of
which since the server restart at 5 this morning,
and one since 1 am last night. All are Linux (never
had any problems with the Windows client). None
of the four are able to connect, not even after client
restarts, and I keep getting error messages like:
Code:

Sat Mar  3 20:08:08 2007: Master address(es): eu1.master.gamecreate.com,eu2.master.gamecreate.com

Pretty please? How about some sugar on top? Very Happy

Yes I know its a pain, however we are doing things as quickly as possible.

We are in the process of migrating EU based domains to an EU based server network this week, which should stop your personal issues no doubt because you will be on a new master server (like US domains are).

We don't have all the time we want to have at the moment, so thing's are taking longer than we would like. GameCreate is not our only task we need to be working on.

Thank you, Andrew. I fully recognize the time-problem,
but I am glad to know you are on top of it and
taking it seriously. That's all I'm asking for Smile

Also great to hear about the EU servers - good job!

EU domains have been moved to EU hosting.
