I succesfully had 2 hosts running GC. I bought a new server so I removed one of my hosts in GC then tried to add the new host. The new host is the same ip as the old server but a different host name. Now I keep getting authentication failed error

You need to remove the host from your old domain first.

If you have a host with the same primary IP Address in another domain, you need to remove it from that other domain first.

The host name is not relevant.

You can remove it by going to the 'Remove an existing host' page via the Hosts tab.

If I go to this link the host no longer shows up because as I said I removed it.

the old server was removed from the data center and replaced with a new server. The new server has the same ip address as the old server but a new host name.

I am not sure what you are saying I need to do at this point. The host is removed from my GC account and the old server no longer exists.
