Since 15:28 CEST today we've had 89 server restarts. That's 12 per hour. Hosts do not disconnect -
it's just the servers that die. Different kinds of games
are restarted, and there haven't been any changes to
the servers, so I don't think this is a problem on our end.

This is for the European master server. Any idea what's
going on? And more importantly: can it be stopped?

I fail to see any pattern in the restarts. Although
some hosts seem to be more exposed than others.

It does seem a bit weird.

Is it possible someone is just restarting them (just throwing it out there) because any restarts GameCreate does (player restriction, if enabled, or failures) are logged with that reason.

The only one thats not logged is automated restarts at 5am (or every X hours if you've chosen that).

In that case they were restarting both BF2, BF2142
and CSS-servers on different hosts.

Anyway, it stopped right after 2am.

BTW: I do get mails every morning about the
automatic server restarts about 5am. Is this a bug?


Edit: What would happen if the masterserver got very
busy. Would it perhaps in some cases be able to
transmit server queries, but be unable to read the
response, thus ending up thinking the server is dead
and restarting it? Is this a possible scenario?

And they're off again. Between 15 and 16 CEST we
had 8 restarts. It's been half an hour since the last
one, so here's hoping it's already over.
