PostPosted: Thu Sep 27, 2007 7:01 pm    Post subject: FTP and where to connect Reply with quote

I have account mg-gaming.eu.gamecreate.com
Also have two subdomains:
testracers.mg-gaming.eu.gamecreate.com
mgr.mg-gaming.eu.gamecreate.com

Now, I don't know how to connect to FTP for subdomains. I created users for each subdomain and they at least have read rights for subdomain. I also enabled FTP access on main domain. I read FTP manual so don't direct me there.

I set FTP to passive mode, and I tried following:

- hostname: testracers.mg-gaming.eu.gamecreate.com:2121
- username: testracers
- password: ********
(tried with and without port defined)

- hostname: mg-gaming.eu.gamecreate.com:2121
- username: testracers
- password: ********
(tried with and without port defined)

- hostname: eu1.master.gamecreate.com:2121
- username: testracers
- password: ********
(tried with and without port defined)

- hostname: eu2.master.gamecreate.com:2121
- username: testracers
- password: ********
(tried with and without port defined)

My questions are:

- is there any key step with registering users to subdomain that I need to check
- for ftp login, what should be entered as "host name"?

Here is log from client after startup:
Code:

You should FTP not to the domains you have defined
i GC, but rather directly to the hosts themselves. That
is where the FTP-service is running on port 2121.

You will get access to all the servers/subdomains on
that host that your user has permissions for.

Yep, as Kybber said, FTP to the host machine on port 2121.

Click on the Server Files tab for any server FTP is enabled on, and it will display 'You can FTP to this host at ....' for further help.

I've added a quick paragraph to the FTP Manual help page to further clarify which address you connect to.
