yeah there is that folder. C:\GameCreate\callofduty2
and originally there was no .pid files in the callofduty2 folder but I went to main and saw port20000.cfg so I copied it, renamed it to port20000.pid and put it in the main cod2 folder.

This won't do anything helpful.

It's looking for a pidfile (Process ID File) that contains the Process ID of processes which like to change their ID after launching (such as Battlefield Vietnam).

The reason this exists for CoD2 was to use a wrapper start-up script to click 'Yes' to any safe mode warning that appears. We don't offer that script for use at the moment.

You can ignore the message for now, it will work without finding the pidfile.

Ok, thanks for that, and also I remembered that you guys don't actaully have cod2 installed and I have to host the files. So I have a website, which files do I need to host?

I've set you some unsupported content master files that will serve as a local content master for chosen game installs.

"Could not open pid-file" is also an issue with COD4 (Win).
I don't think COD4 needs a wrapper-script as COD2 does,
so can this check be removed for COD4?

It does unfortunately, as we recently found out.

Its safe to ignore (if there is no pid file found, it will just use the pid returned from the server launch as normal).

Unfortunately right now you will just see some ugly console spam instead.

COD4 needs a wrapper? How come it has been working
fine here so far? Have we just lucked out and not
encountered a problem you have observed?

Perhaps this will be fixed when they release a dedicated
server.
