Hello,
Im very interested in GC,
And was wondering whether GC installs the pro version of ventrilo which requires a license or the free version?,
Im very interested and have asked support but never got a answer back.
Im hoping it installs the free version.

The default GameCreate install of Ventrilo is for a 2 slot server which does not require a license.

This may be changed to any value up to 200 slots, but anything above 8 slots will require a valid license.

I have answered your support requests.

You can have multiple Ventrilo server instances on a single host.

By default with GameCreate, server instances will start on port 3445 and go up in increments of 10 for each server added to the same host.

Ok,
And does this require a Window environment like GNOME or KDE on *nix systems? (Linux/Unix)

No, you don't need a windowed environment on *nix systems to run GameCreate and Ventrilo servers.

Ok,
And when installing the game "Ventrilo",
Can you change all of the settings via GC GUI?

Like server name,
Admin password etc..
MOTD etc..

Yes, you can do all of that.

It's very easy and well worth setting up Very Happy

although, 1 thing you must do is actually install the ventrilo server manually or set up a content server as GC doesn't copy all the necessary files over Very Happy

I can help out there if needed Smile

Ooh..
So I must first install a server then GC will use that as a template?
And automatically it allows me to edit:
Server name
Server MOTD
Max Slots
Port
without me having to actually "add" these options to GC?

hehe, andrew is the genious here, so he will correct me if I say anything wrong I'm sure Very Happy

here is what I would do...

So, you install game create on your server/computer.

Follow all of the walkthroughs and go throgh the steps of installing a new game (ventrilo). And then with game create still, go to "add a new server". Add ventrilo.

In your came create directory on your server/computer, you will see that there is now a new directory called ventrillo. This does not have all the necessary files etc. inside it. you must download the ventrilo server from the ventrilo site, and just place the whole lot inside this game create ventrilo folder.

Ventrilo has a quite strict liscensing, so game create cannot supply the files for it I believe.

So, when you installed ventrillo through gamecreate, it placed another folder called "configs" inside the folder. this is where the ini files and logs are stored.

When you go to your game create domain online, you will see options to change the server name, max slots, etc etc. So yes, you can just change them without having to add them. The files tab at the top of the game create page allows you to manually edit the filesin the configs folder if you so wish Very Happy.

If I haven't been clear enough, please do say so, and I will try to clarify Very Happy

OK I see,
And would I need to create symlinks for the INI files so Ventrilo still knows where its INI file is?

Nonono Very Happy

Game create is extremely user friendly - it does all the hard stuff for you - it's basically click and go Very Happy

The best I can suggest from my experience is to just install it and give it a go Very Happy

You can have it all set up and running within 5 minutes Very Happy

Let us know how you get on Very Happy

GameCreate should already have all of those properties you mentioned ready to go when you've created a Ventrilo server.
