For a rental environment it appears gamecreate is not ready for Linux just yet. Any idea how long?

We have most of the Linux files and setups now. Are we able to set these up in a "content" server and use Linux now? Over half our business is Linux and we do have customers who deman Linux. [Our experience is that both perform much the same but Windows has added costs and no better performance for most games.]

What is your timeline?

Which games do you require Linux support for? I can look into them.

Provide the game name, linux executable name (eg, dedserver or start.sh) and a link to download the game files so I can check it out myself if possible.

thanks

Top sellers are somewhat in order.
Jedi Academy
Jedi Outcast (JKII)
Quake3
Quake4 with q4max
Call od Duty 2
HL, CS with various mods
HL, DOD
HL, CZ
All source, especially css and dods
UT2004
MOH:AA
MOH:Spearhead
Call of Duty
Call of Duty UO

I will send links via email. We have game files, but I assume you do too. There are none on this list that you don't already have on Windows.

Bryan,

If you provide gamecreate with all the info they need on the game I am sure they can add it to the supported games list.

On the same note why not add support per game engine?

I know from prior experience when I was with game-panel that every game the software controlled was supported by its engine type.

Not many games will use there very own individual engine.

Most cases you find a particular lot of games that use the same engine but a bit modified. example: call of duty1, call of duty2, call of duty uo, medal of honor aa, medal of honor bt, medal of honor sh all use the quake engine.

Yes. I think in way of engines:
Source/Steam
Quake 3 (cod series, jedi games, quake, doom)
Unreal (Ut2004 and some other games)
EA games (bf1942, bfv, bf2)

I we had these then I would use Windows for the others. The above accont for the orders needing either cheaper prices or mods that may work best or only in Linux.

Some (but not all) of those games we cant supply to you, since the developers dont make a free dedicated server package.

Andrew can add the rest Smile
