I am using the linux client on a debian etch machine.
This is the error message on client startup:
Code:
LOG: Thu Oct 2 14:30:49 2008: SSL pipe not connected, attempting to connect
Client v5.2.4 is not availible for Linux on the download page.
So please fix the problem or give us an actual linux client so we can go on running gamecreate on linux.
This isn't a problem with the Linux client, which
works as well at 5.2.3 as the Windows client
does at 5.2.4. This is a problem with the master
EU server.
@mammoth: what do you think about sending an email to all domain-admins of a zone if the masterserver is down? and there could be another mail sent when the server is back online.
And hosts are dying again... If a host disconnects, it fails to reconnect properly
(doesn't receive pong response, as described above). So far today we have
lost 6 of our hosts. Every now and then they manage to connect for long
enough to restart failed servers, but it usually takes an hour or so before the
new connection lasts long enough. And even then the host goes back offline.
I am getting the impression that the EU host is unable to handle the load? If
the CPU and I/O devices are ok, perhaps it's the number of connections that
is too high? After all, the AU master only deals with your own servers, while
the EU/US masters have to deal with a to me unknown number of clients from
a number of users/GSPs.
i set up a poll questioning if Gamecreate should pay more attention to the EU server as the SSL connection keeps dieing, my CS 1.6 servers are offline since 2 days because my root cannot to the EU master server showing me ssl_get_error 6 / ssl_get_error 5
That hasn't really been an issue for the last month or so. Have you upgraded
to the newest version of the GameCreate client, as discussed earlier in this
thread?
Hmm.. I shouldn't have said anything. Today it's messing up again, and three
of our hosts have been unable to connect for a few hours. Of course this happens
right now when I am ready to start our COD WaW servers...
1. Server can start, but stop restart doesn't work.
--> No response what so ever in GC console.
2. If i stop GC console and start again, host doesn't come online again.
--> So my hosts that stand online don't work properly.
It's really weird, installing games and start server are working, but stop/restart/config-update etc. functions don't work.
I am seriously starting to consider looking into other options than GC. There
is no doubt that GC is the most user-friendly and versatile game control panel
out there, but the instability makes it close to useless for serious use. Judging
by the age of this thread, these problems have been ongoing for close to a
year now and still no solution. I'd rather pay for a system that is stable and
guarantees me that our servers will start when we require them than having
an unstable system like GC for free.
It doesn't get any better when I have to constantly defend why we are using
GC to all our server operators who call me almost daily about problems
they encounter.
Please please *PLEASE* put some effort into fixing the EU server, guys! This
is incredibly frustrating!

It was solved today for some hours, but now same problem again.
We've had 7-8-9 hosts offline for the last day or so. Please look into this.
An interesting observation I made yesterday:
While a couple of hosts were offline with the ever-lasting lack of pong-response
and subsequent reconnect after three such pong-attempts, I installed a new
host. After starting GC on that host, it immediately connected, and both pinged
and ponged as it should!
So, I removed all servers from one of the hosts that had been offline for a
number of hours and removed the host itself from GC. I then fired up GC
on the host, and it connected perfectly and registered with its new host id.
Pings and pongs were perfect. I reinstalled the games, moved the servers
back to this host, and restarted GC. Still worked fine. So I did the exact
same thing with another host that had been offline for a few hours, and
was able to reproduce the results.
However, after a few hours, the hosts started to mess up again and were
yet again unable to receive pong responses.
So in other words: The fault doesn't seem to be with the internet connection
at either end nor the capacity of the master server It is more likely that it
is related to some buggy stuff somewhere in the database which messes
up the handshake protocol. This also sort of explains why some hosts are
more prone to problems than others.
I hope you can take this information and do something with it to fix the
connection problems as soon as you can, because frankly I am running
out of options here, and don't know what to do except get another server
management system. And I absolutely adore GC, except for the connection
problems which are completely killing the experience (along with some other
bugs, such as me not being able to view the server overview page since
yesterday...)

Again or still same problem when will this be solved?
