I notice it's continuing to create the config files in System and not system, would be really nice to have the steam files packaged on the content server too, it's also for some reason not able to start games.

Just wondering if anyone else has got it going, and it might be down to user error (my fault!) Very Happy

We don't generally keep the linux server packages for games up to date, or in this case, haven't put the linux version on the content server.

With cases like this one, we normally tell people to install it themselves using the hldsupdatetool.bin found at http://www.steampowered.com/download/hldsupdatetool.bin
If you've already installed it(the windows version)most of the files should be in place already. It should only need to grab a few files like the linux executable file. (ucc-bin)

There's a guide you could read here if you're unfamiliar with it's use.

Steve

I think we have our wires crossed here Smile

After "installing" the game, GC placed a config file into the directory structure

GameCreate-xxxxx\killingfloor\System\portxxxx.ini

This is fine, however after grabbing the server files using ./steam -command update -game killingfloor -dir . I noticed that I now had a System and a system directory, all the server binaries are in the lower case files.

I was able to start the server by running ucc-bin manually, but i've no way of telling whether or not GC is referencing ucc-bin in System or system.

I am running linux so case sensitivity comes into play here Smile

Thanks for all your help Steve, its greatly appreciated Smile

Update - Booted up an XP VM and I have it running!

Steve can you make the appropriate changes to the linux setup?

I reckon that GC is looking in System for ucc-bin, and not system.

Thanks

Hey,

GC is starting ucc-bin from 'system' (lowercase).

The default config file however was written out to System/ instead of system/, I've fixed that and your server should start now.

I can confirm this now works splendidly, I did have a rather fun time trying to get it to work on my multihomed box though!

I had to add ?multihome=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx into the command line immediatly after the map, ie KF-BioticsLab
